Alison Clement lives in western Oregon where she works in a school library, rides her bike, practices yoga, studies Spanish, reads, and writes novels. She was raised in South Carolina and Georgia. She went to the same grade school, Sacred Heart, as Flannery O'Connor. She likes reading about cooking and gardening more than she likes doing those things. She dropped out of college after reading Ivan Illich. She's worked as a bartender, waitress, factory worker, taxi driver, house painter, peach picker, telemarketer, gas station attendant, house cleaner, and she was once a cocktail waitress in a Chinese restaurant with a Dutch motif. She lives with her family and a very old cat in a small house with a big yard in a neighborhood full of children and flowers.
